Proposing Transmission Solutions

The need for new transmission is becoming more apparent every year.  New transmission brings enhances system reliability, more effective market competition, capacity cost savings, environmental benefits resulting from expanded use of cleaner resources, and reduced costs of meeting public policy goals.

The New York Independent System Operators’ s Power Trends 2016 states:

"Ultimately, our transmission grid is the backbone that supports all future policy changes in the electricity sector."

  • In September 2015, following a comprehensive engineering, environmental, system impact and benefit/cost analysis, the Department of Public Service staff recommended that the Public Service Commission determine that NEETNY’s project should advance to the New York Independent System Operator for further evaluation, along with two other bidders' projects.
  • In February 2016, seventeen bipartisan governors participate in signing the Governor's Accord for a New Energy Future.  Click here to view the signed copy of the Accord.
