The Empire State Line Project

In response to a public policy need identified by the New York State Independent System Operator (NYISO), NEETNY was selected in 2017 to build the Empire State Line; a new 20-mile, 345 kV electric power line that will utilize existing utility rights-of-way in Erie and Niagara counties. The line will improve electric reliability across the New York State electric grid and support New York’s goal of maximizing the flow of energy from renewable resources in the region.

Once in service in 2022, the line will provide cost savings for New York utility customers by making the state’s electric grid more efficient.
